About the Role
Shopify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Checkout team, where you will help build the technology that processes billions of dollars in transactions for merchants around the world.
In this role, you will design, build, and maintain critical systems that power Shopify's core commerce platform. You will work with a team of world-class engineers to solve complex distributed systems challenges at massive scale.
You will own technical decisions, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with product managers and designers to deliver features that directly impact millions of merchants and their customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend services using Ruby on Rails and Go
- Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions
- Write clean, well-tested code with a focus on reliability and performance
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data teams to define and ship features
- Participate in on-call rotations for production systems
- Contribute to Shopify's engineering culture and open-source projects
